Red Wings search for rare win vs. Blackhawks

DETROIT (Ticker) - In their final tuneup before the playoffs, the Detroit Red Wings face the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

Detroit, which clinched the Presidents' Trophy as the regular-season points leader on Thursday by beating Columbus, 3-2, has been mostly unsuccessful this season against Chicago.

In fact, the Blackhawks are the only team in the Western Conference that the Red Wings have a losing record against this season (2-4-1).

In their win over the Blue Jackets, Johan Franzen and Henrik Zetterberg scored late goals to give Detroit the victory.

Despite going 6-1-1 over its last eight games, Chicago was eliminated from postseason consideration on Thursday when Nashville (41-32-9) clinched the final playoff berth in the West with a 3-2 win over St. Louis.

That didn't stop Chicago, which defeated the Predators, 3-1, on Saturday. Rookies Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane each scored for the victors.
