Facing elimination, Capitals host Flyers

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals know they have a tough task in front of them as they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday in Game Five of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

After suffering a double-overtime loss in Game Four on Thursday, the third-seeded Capitals face a three-games-to-one deficit in the best-of-seven series.

"Well, you never give up and it's not over yet," said Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin, who recorded two assists Thursday. "It's not over. That is all I can say - it's not over."

Washington coach Bruce Boudreau was quick to remind his team that this is not the first time they have faced a must-win situation this season.

"I'm sure they're counting us out, but when we had to win seven in a row (at the end of the regular season), we did it," he said. "So don't count us out."

The Flyers, however, have all the momentum entering this one. They capped their third straight victory in the series at 6:40 of the second overtime, when Mike Knuble netted the game-winner.

Knuble grabbed the rebound of his own shot and lifted it over Capitals goaltender Cristobal Huet's left pad, ending the longest game of this postseason.

Jeff Carter finished Thursday with two goals and an assist and Daniel Briere added his league-leading fifth tally of the postseason for the sixth-seeded Flyers.
