Islanders face tough task in Stars
Nov 15, 2006 - 4:33 PM NY Islanders (7-6-2) at Dallas (12-4-0) 8:30 pm ESTDALLAS (Ticker) -- After a disastrous start, the New York Islanders have very quietly been improving, and go for their fourth win in their last six starts when they play the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.
But the Isles will have their hands full, as the Stars are one of the best teams in the league despite stumbling lately. Dallas is six points behind the Anaheim Ducks for first place in the Pacific Division.
Dallas has lost two of its last three, but did edge the Phoenix Coyotes, 1-0, on Thursday.
Brenden Morrow scored the only goal of the game early in the second period and Marty Turco turned aside only 13 shots to get the shutout.
The Islanders snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
Alexei Yashin scored twice for the Islanders while Richard Park scored the other goal. Rick DePietro stopped 32-of-33 shots for the victory.
No one has shouted yet.
