Wild conclude road trip against Predators

Nov 16, 2006 - 2:13 PM Minnesota (11-6-0) at Nashville (11-4-1) 8:00 pm EST

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - The Minnesota Wild look to end a five-game road trip on a positive note when they play the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

The Wild are only 1-3-0 on the trip, and are coming off an unexpected 4-3 loss to the lowly Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday.

Pavol Demitra, Wes Walz and Mark Parrish each had a goal and an assist for Minnesota, which was blanked in two power-play opportunities. Minnesota netminder Manny Fernandez had an off night, stopping only 20 of his 24 shots faced.

The Predators quietly remain one of the better clubs in the Western Conference, and a reason is their prowess on the road. Nashville has won eight of its last nine road games.

The latest road victory was 5-4 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday. Nashville trailed, 4-3, in the third period but rallied for two goals to get the victory.

Nashville's David Legwand tied the game, 4-4, at 11:32 of the third period before Scott Nichol scored the eventual game-winner just 31 seconds later.

Legwand had two goals while J.P. Dumont and Vernon Fiddler had the other goals for the Predators, who went 1-for-5 on the power play.
