Blackhawks begin five-game road trip in Phoenix
Nov 16, 2006 - 2:24 PM Chicago (6-9-1) at Phoenix (5-12-0) 9:00 pm ESTGLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) - The Chicago Blackhawks look to win a season-high third straight game Thursday when they open a five-game road trip against the Phoenix Coyotes.
Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, who was placed on injured reserve on October 22 with a broken finger, reportedly could get the start for Chicago.
If Khabibulin cannot play, the Hawks will probably start Brian Boucher, who is coming off a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. Boucher recorded 28 saves to get his 13th career shutout.
Lasse Kukkonen scored the only goal of the game for the Blackhawks, whose winning streak follows an 0-7-1 slump.
The Coyotes have been dreadful so far, but scored a surprising 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
Phoenix trailed, 2-0, in the second period but scored four straight goals. Yanic Perreault and Oleg Saprykin each scored twice for the Coyotes, who received 26 saves from Curtis Joseph.
No one has shouted yet.
