Senators look to build off a huge win vs. Devils
Nov 17, 2006 - 2:55 PM Ottawa (7-10-1) at New Jersey (10-6-1) 7:30 pm ESTEAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) - The Ottawa Senators have underachieved this season, but earned a huge win over arguably the league's best club in the Buffalo Sabres.
The Senators look to build off that victory against the New Jersey Devils on Friday.
Ottawa defeated Buffalo, 4-2, on Wednesday to hand the Sabres only their second regulation loss this season. Ray Emery, making his first start since October 31, made 27 saves while Peter Schaefer scored the game-winning goal late in the third period.
Chris Neil, Jason Spezza and Chris Phillips scored the other goals for Ottawa, which went 2-of-6 on the power play.
The Devils, who have won four of their last five, should be steaming after a 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday.
New Jersey was cruising along with a 2-0 lead early in the third period, but then surrendered two goals to Jaromir Jagr and another to Brendan Shanahan a 90-second span.
Jamie Langenbrunner and Brian Gionta scored the New Jersey goals while Brian Rafalski assisted on both tallies.
No one has shouted yet.
