Ducks try to regroup after embarrassing loss
Nov 17, 2006 - 3:11 PM Chicago (6-9-2) at Anaheim (13-2-4) 10:00 pm ESTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Chicago Blackhawks try to regroup from a tough loss while the Anaheim Ducks try to come back from an embarrassing defeat when the clubs meet on Friday.
The Ducks still are scratching their heads over their shocking 7-4 setback to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.
With the score tied, 1-1, Philadelphia scored four straight goals for a commanding lead. Anaheim goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere eventually was replaced after surrendering six goals on only 11 shots.
Chris Kunitz, Samuel Pahlsson, Andy McDonald and Dustin Penner scored for Anaheim, which produced two power-play goals. However, the Ducks surrendered three power-play goals.
The Blackhawks come off a tough 3-2 shootout loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday. Karl Stewart and Martin Lapointe scored for Chicago, which received its only goal of the shootout from Jeff Hamilton.
Chicago had a golden opportunity to win the game late in the third period when it had a two-minute 5-on-3 power-play opportunity at 13:12. The Blackhawks vigorously swarmed the Phoenix net and peppered Curtis Joseph with seven shots, but could not capitalize.
