Resurgent Flyers go for their third straight victory
Nov 18, 2006 - 5:26 PM Philadelphia (5-12-2) at San Jose (14-6-0) 10:30 pm ESTSAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - The Philadelphia Flyers go for their third consecutive victory when they meet the San Jose Sharks on Saturday in the final game of their four-game road trip.
The Flyers rallied for three goals in less than four minutes in the third period for a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles on Thursday.
Simon Gagne started the rally before R.J. Umberger scored twice, including the decisive goal, to give the Flyers the victory.
The Flyers, who posted a 7-4 victory at Anaheim on Wednesday, are 2-1 on the road trip.
Philadelphia, which started 1-6-1, has only gone 2-6-1 under interim coach John Stevens.
The Sharks are coming off a hard-fought 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. The Sharks trailed, 3-2, midway through the third period but struck for two goals in 17 seconds.
Joe Thornton tied the game, 2-2, at 10:55 before Patrick Marleau scored the decisive goal at 11:12.
Curtis Brown and Steve Bernier scored the other goals for the Sharks, who might be without star winger Jonathan Cheechoo, who suffered a lower leg injury in the second period against Colorado.
