Sabres look for revenge in rematch against Senators
Nov 18, 2006 - 5:42 PM Buffalo (16-2-1) at Ottawa (7-10-1) 7:00 pm ESTOTTAWA (Ticker) -- Maxim Afinogenov and the Buffalo Sabres not only lose rarely, they immediately bounce back from losses as well.
The Sabres, who bounced back from a setback to Ottawa with a victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, look to get revenge against the Senators on Saturday.
Afinogenov, who missed the previous five games with a shoulder injury, scored in his return, a 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh. Thomas Vanek, Chris Drury and Ales Kotalik also scored for Buffalo.
The Senators still have not awakened from their early-season funk, losing three of their last five games. However, Ottawa did hand the Sabres a rare loss on Wednesday.
Chris Neal, Jason Spezza, Peter Schaefer and Chris Phillips scored for the Senators, who went 2-for-6 on the power play in a 4-2 win. Schaefer registered the game-winner when he deflected Daniel Alfredsson's shot past Buffalo netminder Martin Biron.
Goaltender Ray Emery finished with 27 saves in his first start since October 21.
