Blue Jackets try to snap five-game drought vs. Predators
Nov 20, 2006 - 4:44 PM Nashville (12-4-2) at Columbus (5-12-1) 7:00 pm ESTCOLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The firing of Gerard Gallant has not made any difference in the fortunes of the woeful Columbus Blue Jackets.
Ranked last in the league with 11 points and 39 goals, the Blue Jackets look to snap a five-game losing streak Monday when they face the Nashville Predators for the third time in six days.
Since Gallant was fired last Monday, the Blue Jackets have lost twice to Nashville sandwiched around Friday's 3-0 defeat to the Colorado Avalanche. Columbus has been outscored, 17-7, during its losing streak.
Sergei Fedorov scored his third goal of the season and Dan Fritsche added his second for the Blue Jackets, who yielded the first four goals of Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Predators.
Nashville has won eight of its last 10 outings to move into a first-place tie with the Detroit Red Wings atop the Central Division. The Predators are third in the Western Conference with 63 tallies and are 8-3-0 on the road.
Jason Arnott scored twice against Columbus on Saturday to extend his points streak against the Blue Jackets to nine games. He has five goals and 11 assists during that stretch.
No one has shouted yet.
