Crosby, Penguins aim for third win this season over Flyers

Nov 20, 2006 - 4:44 PM Pittsburgh (9-7-2) at Philadelphia (5-13-2) 7:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins have a bright future thanks to Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. On the other hand, the Philadelphia Flyers simply are looking for direction.

The Penguins look for their third straight win over the Flyers when the in-state rivals square off Monday at the Wachovia Center.

The No. 1 pick in the 2005 Draft and an instant sensation last season, Crosby has teamed with star rookies Malkin and Jordan Staal to lead the resurgent Penguins to a surprising start in 2006-07.

Crosby, Malkin and Staal have combined for 25 goals and 52 points this season. They accounted for one tally apiece in in a 3-2 triumph over Philadelphia last Monday. Crosby also scored in the Penguins' 4-0 win over the Flyers on Opening Night.

On Monday, the Penguins hope to carry some momentum from Saturday's 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers.

Staal scored a power-play goal in the opening period while Crosby added a pair of assists for Pittsburgh, which has won two of its last three since a five-game skid from November 4-11.

The Flyers look to bounce back from an embarrassing 6-1 loss at San Jose on Saturday.

Geoff Sanderson scored the lone tally for Philadelphia, which has yielded a league-worst 81 goals this season.
