Sabres look to avenge earlier loss to Leafs
Nov 22, 2006 - 2:27 PM Toronto (12-6-4) at Buffalo (17-3-1) 7:00 pm ESTBUFFALO, New York (Ticker) - The Buffalo Sabres look to display their offensive prowess Wednesday when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Buffalo showed its firepower against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, scoring seven straight goals in the second period in a 7-2 triumph. Paul Gaustad and Thomas Vanek each scored twice while Ales Kotalik had three assists.
The Sabres have scored 96 goals already this season, by far the most in the NHL. Atlanta has the second most with just 76.
The Maple Leafs handed Buffalo one its few losses this season, beating the Sabres, 4-1, on November 4.
The Leafs snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Monday. Kyle Wellwood had a goal and an assist while Nik Antropov had two assists.
Andrew Raycroft returned after missing two games with a groin strain and recorded 19 saves. The Leafs went 2-for-6 on the power play.
