Senators look to keep rolling vs. struggling Flyers
Nov 22, 2006 - 2:36 PM Ottawa (9-11-1) at Philadelphia (5-14-2) 7:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - After struggling for most of the season, the Ottawa Senators have won three of their last four games.
Two of the victories have come over two of the better clubs in the league, the Buffalo Sabres and the Minnesota Wild.
The Senators won their second straight when they downed the Wild, 5-3, on Monday. Ray Emery was very sharp in stopping 42 shots while Peter Schaefer had a goal and an assist.
Mike Fisher had two assists for Ottawa, which went 2-for-3 on the power play.
The Flyers try to rebound from a 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday. Freddy Meyer, Simon Gagne and Geoff Sanderson had the goals for Philadelphia while Gagne added an assist and Joni Pitkanen had three.
Antero Niittymaki had an off night for the Flyers, allowing five goals on 34 shots. Philadelphia plays two of its next three games at home.
Philadelphia signed coach Gary Stevens to a two-year contract on Monday. Stevens replaced Ken Hitchcock on October 22 and has a 4-7-1 record since he took over.
