Canucks go for third straight win

Nov 23, 2006 - 2:33 PM Vancouver (11-10-1) at Nashville (13-5-2) 8:00 pm EST

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks go for their third straight victory when they travel to Nashville to play the Predators on Thursday.

Vancouver's Brendan Morrison scored the tying goal in the third period then tallied the winner in overtime as the Canucks rallied to defeat the Detroit Red Wings, 4-3, on Wednesday.

Morrison scored the game-winner when he sped in on a breakaway and beat Detroit netminder Dominik Hasek between the pads.

Ryan Kesler and Markus Naslund scored the other goals for Vancouver while Roberto Luongo recorded 27 saves. The Canucks conclude their three-game road trip at Colorado on Saturday.

Vancouver, which entered with the 27th-ranked power play, went 1-for-6 with the extra skater.

The Predators will look to rebound from a 1-0 loss in Dallas against the Stars on Wednesday in a game where they only mustered 17 shots.

Nashville, which had a two-game win streak snapped, did a good job in killing off seven Dallas power-play opportunities but failed to convert on three of its own.

The Predators host Central Division rival Detroit on Saturday before heading out on a two-game road trip.
