Langkow leads Flames to win over former club

Sep 25, 2008 - 3:36 AM WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Ticker) -- Daymond Langkow snapped a tie just over four minutes into the third period, giving the Calgary Flames a 3-2 preseason triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes at the MTS Centre on Wednesday.

Langkow, who spent three seasons from 2001-04 with Phoenix, capped a comeback for Calgary, beating goaltender Josh Tordjman at 4:07 of the third for a 3-2 edge.

The Coyotes built a 2-0 lead behind Enver Lisin, the team's second-round pick in 2004. The 22-year-old Russian opened the scoring just 41 seconds into the game and doubled the advantage with 5:36 remaining with his second goal of the night.

Captain Shane Doan set up both tallies.

Calgary halved the deficit at 7:21 of the middle period, when defenseman Dion Phaneuf netted a shorthanded goal. Fellow blue-liner Matt Pelech knotted the contest with a shot from the point that slid between the pads of netminder Al Montoya during a power play with 3:36 to go in the second.

Dustin Boyd collected a pair of assists and Matt Keetley made 22 saves for the Flames, who registered 41 shots.
