Slumping Thrashers hope to reverse fortunes
Nov 25, 2006 - 3:10 PM Florida (10-17-5) at Atlanta (13-7-4) 7:00 pm ESTATLANTA (Ticker) -- The slumping Atlanta Thrashers hope to get a badly-needed win when they host the Florida Panthers on Saturday.
The Thrashers are 1-3-1 in their last five games and seek to rebound from a 3-2 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday.
Atlanta had a 2-0 lead early in the second period. But Dan Boyle tied the game for Tampa Bay with 21 seconds left before Martin St. Louis won the game for the Lightning in overtime.
Jason Krog and Steve Rucchin scored for Atlanta, which got 31 saves from goaltender Kari Lehtonen.
Atlanta coach Bob Hartley has 299 career wins. The Thrashers have won all three meetings with Florida, outscoring the Panthers, 16-5. Marian Hossa has five goals and two assists in those meetings.
Gary Roberts scored twice for the Panthers, but it was not enough as they dropped a 6-4 decision to the Ottawa Senators on Friday.
Stephen Weiss and Drew Larman scored the other goals for Florida, which went 2-for-4 on the power play.
