Sundin may return Saturday for Maple Leafs
Nov 25, 2006 - 3:28 PM Boston (9-9-2) at Toronto (13-7-4) 7:00 pm ESTTORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs hope that captain Mats Sundin will be able to return on Saturday when they host the Boston Bruins.
Sundin had been out since November 6 with an elbow injury. However, the Leafs have gone 4-2-1 in Sundin's absence.
Toronto comes off an impressive 7-1 drubbing of the Washington Capitals on Friday. Jeff O'Neill and Darcy Tucker each had a goal and two assists for the Maple Leafs, who went 3-for-5 on the power play.
The Bruins come off a 5-1 loss to the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes on Friday. following a stretch where they won three of four games.
Tim Thomas started for Boston but was pulled after surrendering three goals on 25 shots. Philippe Sauve replaced Thomas and stopped 13-of-15 shots. Patrice Bergeron scored the only goal for Boston, which was outshot, 40-26.
The Leafs and Bruins meet again on Tuesday in Toronto in the second game of a stretch where Boston plays four of five on the road.
