Blues try to avoid letdown against Coyotes
Nov 25, 2006 - 3:39 PM Phoenix (6-15-0) at St Louis (7-11-3) 8:00 pm ESTST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The St. Louis Blues try to avoid a letdown when they host the Phoenix Coyotes on Friday.
The Blues registered an improbable win on Friday, edging the Detroit Red Wings, 3-2, in a shootout.
Martin Rucinsky and Doug Weight scored in the shootout while goaltender Manny Legace stopped both Detroit shooters. Petr Cajanek scored both St. Louis goals in regulation time while Legace haunted his former team with 41 saves.
The Coyotes have lost three of their last four, and try to rebound from a 4-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Friday.
Phoenix was only outshot, 29-28, but allowed two power-play goals as well as a shorthanded tally. Former Blues goalie Curtis Joseph was shaky for the Coyotes, giving up four goals on 26 shots. David LeNeveu replaced Joseph.
