Avalanche look to continue winning ways vs. Canucks
Nov 25, 2006 - 3:41 PM Vancouver (11-11-1) at Colorado (10-10-2) 10:00 pm ESTDENVER (Ticker) -- Although they have gotten off to a relatively slow start this season, the Colorado Avalanche have fared well against Northwest Division opponents.
The Avalanche hope to continue that success Saturday when they host the Vancouver Canucks.
Colorado is last in the division with just 22 points. But the Avalanche own a 4-2-1 mark against Northwest foes and have won both meetings with the Canucks.
Captain Joe Sakic recorded two assists and Andrew Brunette netted the game-winning goal the last time these rivals squared off, a 3-2 victory for Colorado on November 4.
The Avalanche enter Saturday's contest with victories in three of their last four games, including a 3-2 shootout triumph over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.
Jose Theodore made 30 saves while Sakic scored the winner in the shootout for Colorado, which squandered a two-goal lead.
The Canucks look to rebound from a 6-0 loss to the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
No one has shouted yet.
