Devils hope to avoid third straight loss

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Devils seek to avoid a third straight loss when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

New Jersey started its five-game road trip with a win in Toronto on Saturday, but followed with two straight losses - the latest a 4-2 setback to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta scored for the Devils, who were outshot, 37-25. Martin Brodeur made 30 saves for New Jersey, which went 1-for-6 on the power play.

The Sharks have won three of their last four - the latest triumph a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.

Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton each led the Sharks with a goal and two assists while Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Steve Bernier and Joe Pavelski added single tallies.

Vlasic and Pavelski each scored their first career goals. The Sharks went 2-for-5 on the power play while holding the Kings scoreless in their four attempts with the extra skater.
