Canadiens take on Flyers in playoff rematch

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens look to exact a measure of revenge on Monday when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers in a playoff rematch from last season.

The top seed in the Eastern Conference, Montreal was ousted in the second round by Philadelphia in five games.

Hoping to build off a solid campaign, Montreal lost in a shootout at Buffalo on Friday but bounced back with a 6-1 triumph against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Sergei Kostitsyn scored a pair of power-play goals in the road victory.

Philadelphia, which dropped its season opener to the New York Rangers, 4-3, on Saturday, has endured a number of injuries to its blue line to start the year.

Defenseman Randy Jones is expected to miss three or four months with a torn labrum in his hip, while veteran Derian Hatcher and fellow blue-liner Ryan Parent were placed on injured reserve on Thursday.

In order to make up for the thin defense, the Flyers will need a better effort out of goaltender Martin Biron, who surrendered four goals on 14 shots in just over 16 minutes of action in the loss to the Rangers.
