Turris, Coyotes aim to rebound vs. Senators

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Kyle Turris is adapting quite nicely to the NHL.

The rookie looks to stay hot and help the Phoenix Coyotes rebound from their first loss of the season when they face the Ottawa Senators on Friday.

The third overall pick in the 2007 draft, Turris is part of a Coyotes team that has 10 players that are 23-year-old or younger. The 19-year-old ran his points to three games on Wednesday, but Phoenix dropped a 4-1 decision to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Turris and the Coyotes were slowed after recording a pair of two-goal victories to start the season.

Phoenix will try and bounce back against the Senators, who are dealing with the inconsistent play of Martin Gerber. The goaltender stopped 38 shots, but allowed two goals in the final nine minutes of a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

Gerber was named the game's second star, but drew loud boos from the home crowd. He is 1-1-1 with a 2.03 goals-against average in four career appearances against the Coyotes.

Meanwhile, Ottawa may get a boost from the return of captain Daniel Alfredsson. The 35-year-old Swede had arthroscopic knee surgery last Friday, but returned to practice this week and is questionable for this game.
