Predators start home-and-home series vs. Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Nashville Predators will visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday in the first game of a home-and-home series between the Central Division foes.

The Predators, who will host the Blue Jackets on Saturday, will be without captain Jason Arnott. The 34-year-old Arnott, who had two goals and two assists this season, suffered a broken finger during Monday's 3-2 shootout victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

With Arnott out of the lineup Wednesday, rookies Ryan Jones and Patric Hornqvist scored their first career NHL goals, but Nashville dropped a 6-4 decision to the Dallas Stars.

Arnott could return following the team's four-day break after this brief series.

Columbus hopes its home opener provides the needed momentum to avoid a third consecutive loss. Newcomers Kristian Huselius and defenseman Christian Backman scored in the Blue Jackets' 5-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.

Huselius, who spent the past two seasons with the Calgary Flames, has two goals with a minus-3 rating through the first three games. After splitting the last campaign with the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues, Backman has a goal and two assists this season.
