Canadiens look to continue scoring streak vs. Coyotes
Oct 18, 2008 - 10:09 AM Phoenix (2-2-0) at Montreal (3-0-1) 7:00 p.m. EDTMONTREAL (Ticker) -- After being held to a single goal in their season opener, the Montreal Canadiens have used a complete team effort to break out offensively.
The Canadiens will look for their balanced scoring to continue when they host the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday.
Eleven different players have scored goals and no player has more than two for the Canadiens, who have tallied 15 times in their last three games.
Montreal squandered a three-goal lead Wednesday against the Boston Bruins, but newcomer Alex Tanguay's shootout goal gave the club its third straight win.
Defenseman Andrei Markov is one of the few players without a tally for Montreal, but his six assists leads the team.
Phoenix is in search of a win as it completes its four-game road trip. After posting a 4-2 victory in Anaheim on Sunday, the Coyotes dropped consecutive three-goal decisions to Chicago and Ottawa, 4-1 and 6-3, respectively.
Captain Shane Doan leads Phoenix with three goals and has collected a point in the last two games. Olli Jokinen has notched a point in each of the Coyotes' four contests this season.
