Devils return home after successful road trip

Oct 22, 2008 - 8:41 PM NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Following a successful road trip, the New Jersey Devils look to continue their strong play at home. The Devils return to the Prudential Center on Wednesday to open a brief two-game homestand against the Dallas Stars. After starting the season with a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders at home, New Jersey hit the road, posting a 3-1-0 record during its recent trip. Each of the Devils' victories were decided by one goal, including a thrilling 4-3 shootout triumph over the Washington Capitals on Saturday. Zach Parise had a power-play goal and an assist in the third period before registering the lone tally in the shootout as New Jersey set a season high for tallies. Parise, 24, leads the Devils with three goals and five points. He will be looking to continue his scoring surge against Marty Turco, who finally put together a strong performance in his last game. Turco made 28 saves on Monday to lead Dallas to a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers. It was the first time in five games this season Turco allowed fewer than three goals. Veterans Mike Modano and Brad Richards lead the Stars with six points apiece, while rookie Fabian Brunnstrom tops the team with four goals.
