Ducks look to avenge early-season defeat vs. Flames
Nov 26, 2006 - 3:23 PM Calgary (10-9-2) at Anaheim (16-2-6) 8:00 pm ESTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks haven't been looking for revenge very often this season.
But on Sunday, the Ducks will face one of the two teams to hand them a loss when they take on the Calgary Flames.
Anaheim started the season with a red-hot 12-0-4 record and has since tied Buffalo with a league-leading 38 points.
However, the Flames handed the Ducks their first regulation loss on November 10. Miikka Kiprusoff made 37 saves and Daymond Langkow and Tony Amonte scored 19 seconds apart in the first period to lead Calgary to a 3-0 victory.
However, the Ducks bounced back from that defeat to lose only once more since. On Friday, Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 23 saves and Todd Marchant scored twice, including the go-ahead shorthanded tally in the third period, as Anaheim held on for a 4-2 triumph over the New Jersey Devils.
The reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Kiprusoff stopped 32 shots for the Flames, who yielded three goals for the first time in nine contests, in a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
The Ducks have won their last three home contests against Calgary, which has gone 1-9-3 in its last 13 matchups at the Honda Center.
