Red Wings hope to end skid, face the Stars

Nov 27, 2006 - 3:21 PM Dallas (16-6-0) at Detroit (12-6-4) 7:00 pm EST

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings aim to end a five-game slide as they host the Dallas Stars at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit is 0-2-3 since a franchise record-tying nine-game win streak.

Red Wings rookie goaltender Joey MacDonald, making just his second career start, allowed six of 27 shots to get by him in a 6-2 loss to Nashville on Friday.

The six goals were the most allowed by the Red Wings since a 6-3 loss against the Predators in the finale of the 2005-06 regular season.

The Red Wings haven't gone winless in six consecutive games since they had four losses and two ties from January 25-February 8, 2003.

15-year veteran Dominik Hasek could be back in net Monday, looking to end a personal three-game losing streak (0-1-2). He has won three straight starts against the Stars, including a 17-save performance in a 4-3 victory at Dallas on Oct. 27.

The Stars have won three straight and four of five, including a 5-3 win over Los Angeles on Friday. Defenseman Philippe Boucher tallied three power-play goals, the first hat trick of his 14-year career.

Rookie goaltender Mike Smith stopped 22 shots vs. the Kings, his second straight start for Dallas.

Dallas' starting goaltender, Marty Turco, is 11-5-0 this season. However he is just 1-7-5 lifetime vs. the Red Wings.
