Canadiens seek to bounce back vs. Maple Leafs

Nov 8, 2008 - 2:24 PM Montreal (8-1-2) at Toronto (5-5-4) 7:00 p.m. EST

TORONTO (Ticker) -- After a rare loss, the Montreal Canadiens look to get back in the win column Saturday when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Montreal had captured three straight one-goal victories, but came off a five-day break and fell to Columbus in a shootout Friday.

Columbus used a pair of goals in less than a minute during the third period to take the lead, but needed the shootout to earn the win after Sergei Kostitsyn's goal with under a minute to play in regulation tied it, 3-3.

Alex Tanguay scored his team-leading seventh goal while Jaroslav Halak took the loss in net after posting victories in his two previous decisions.

Toronto is winless (0-2-1) over its last three games, thanks mostly to a porous defense that has allowed 16 goals during the streak.

Curtis Joseph allowed five goals in his last start Sunday and Vesa Toskala surrendered nine goals over the last two games, after winning four of his previous five appearances.

Montreal roughed up Toronto, 6-1, on October 11 to start a stretch of eight wins in nine games, catapulting it toward the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
