Giguere, Ducks look to recover from home struggles

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks look to get back on track on home ice Friday as they host the Nashville Predators.

The Ducks have dropped consecutive games at home and are just 4-5-1 at the Honda Center. Currently in the middle of a six-game homestand, they come into the game well-rested after four days off.

Of course, they would probably like to erase the memory of their last two games. In Sunday's loss to the Florida Panthers, they got off 45 shots but managed just one goal. Two days before that, goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere was pulled in the second period in a 5-2 loss to the Pacific Division rival Dallas Stars.

It has been a particularly difficult early season for Giguere, who has posted a 3.07 goals-against average. He lost his first three games of the season and struggled last week in consecutive losses. However, he gets to face a club he has dominated.

In 20 career starts against the Predators, Giguere is 13-6 with a 1.77 GAA, including three shutouts.

Nashville is coming off its biggest win of the season, a 4-3 overtime triumph on Tuesday over the league's top team, the San Jose Sharks. Despite facing 57 shots from the top-scoring team in the NHL, the Predators survived, finally claiming victory on Ville Koistinen's goal halfway through the overtime period.

Nashville is led by right wing J.P. Dumont, who is third in the league with 15 assists. The Ducks boast two of the league's leading scorers in center Ryan Getzlaf (six goals, 13 assists) and right wing Corey Perry (five goals, 13 assists).
