Canadiens try to rebound from loss to Flyers
Nov 28, 2006 - 2:53 PM Florida (8-13-4) at Montreal (13-6-3) 7:30 pm ESTMONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens aim to rebound from an embarrassing defeat when they host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
Montreal was sailing along with three straight wins until it hosted the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday and dropped a 4-2 decision to the club with the worst record in the Eastern Conference
Alexei Kovalev and Saku Koivu scored the goals for Montreal. Kovalev added an assist for the Canadiens, who outshot the Flyers, 31-26, and were 1-for-5 on the power play.
The Panthers, who have lost four of their last five and three straight, aim to rebound from a 1-0 loss to the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday.
Florida fired 37 shots on net but could not beat Atlanta goaltender Kari Lehtonen. The Panthers went 0-for-7 on the power play.
Goaltender Alex Auld recorded 27 saves for Florida, which is 2-6-2 in its last 10 games and has 27 points. Only the Philadelphia Flyers have fewer points (20) than Florida.
A problem for the Panthers has been keeping the puck out of their net. Only two clubs - Philadelphia (93) and Phoenix (88) - have given up more goals than the Panthers.
No one has shouted yet.
