Wild look to continue winning ways at home
Nov 26, 2008 - 11:14 AM Dallas (6-10-4) at Minnesota (12-6-1) 8:00 p.m. ESTST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild's five-game homestand did not get off to a rousing start.
After a convincing win to end the skid, however, the Wild continue their home run when they take on the struggling Dallas Stars on Wednesday.
The Wild had dropped consecutive home games in regulation for the first time since November 21-23, 2007. However, they bounced back with a 4-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Monday.
Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom improved to 6-2-1 at home and is 12-2-3 at home dating to last season.
Despite two goals by Mike Modano, the Stars failed to overcome the Philadelphia Flyers in a 4-3 overtime loss on Monday.
With those goals, though, Modano comes closer to another milestone: He's two points away from 1,300 for his career.
"He's getting opportunities and cashing in on them," coach Dave Tippett told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "Too bad we can't use those to our advantage."
A major reason for Dallas' struggles on offense has been the absence of captain Brenden Morrow, who suffered suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last week and will likely miss the rest of the season.
In the two games Morrow has missed, the Stars have netted four total goals in a pair of one-goal losses to the Anaheim Ducks and Flyers, respectively.
Dallas has dropped three in a row and six of its last seven.
