Sharks aim to keep rolling
Nov 29, 2006 - 2:59 PM San Jose (18-7-0) at Minnesota (13-9-1) 8:00 pm ESTST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- Two teams going in opposite directions meet Wednesday when the San Jose Sharks visit the Minnesota Wild.
The Sharks, who have won nine of their last 11, come off a 2-0 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday in the opener of their four-game road trip.
San Jose shut out the New Jersey Devils, 2-0, on Saturday, and will be looking for a franchise-record third straight shutout victory against Minnesota.
The Sharks have rotated goaltenders every game this season, which means Evgeni Nabokov should get the start against the Wild.
Joe Pavelski and Ryane Clowe scored for the Sharks, who were actually outshot, 29-27. Vesa Toskala made 29 saves to record his sixth career shutout and second of the season.
The Wild have been struggling, going 2-5-1 in their last eight games. Minnesota tries to rebound from a 5-3 defeat to the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
Pascal Dupuis, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Stephane Veilleux scored for the Wild, who were outshot by a wide 33-22 margin.
Niklas Backstrom was pulled after surrendering two goals on 10 shots and was replaced by Manny Fernandez, who made 20 saves but allowed three goals.
No one has shouted yet.
