Crosby, Penguins attempt to keep rolling vs. Senators

Dec 6, 2008 - 11:28 AM Pittsburgh (15-6-4) at Ottawa (9-10-4), 2:00 pm EST

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins have the pieces in place to become a dynasty. For now, they are more concerned about winning.

Captain Sidney Crosby and the Penguins seek their 11th victory in 15 games when they visit the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

Crosby notched four assists and Petr Sykora scored a pair of power-play goals Thursday as the Pittsburgh Penguins cruised to a 5-2 triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Pascal Dupuis, Miroslav Satan and Ruslan Fedotenko also tallied for the Penguins, who improved to 10-2-2 in their last 14 contests. Evgeni Malkin set up two goals and Dany Sabourin made 34 saves for Pittsburgh, which rebounded from squandering a two-goal lead in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the New York Rangers.

"It shows character," Crosby said. "It would have been easy to be frustrated because we probably deserved better last night. It was a pretty physical and emotional game. Coming in here tonight and finding a way to win was a big challenge, and we answered it well."

The Senators have lacked productivity outside their top line of Jason Spezza, Dany Heatley and captain Daniel Alfredsson. No Senator outside that trio has more than four goals.

As a result, Ottawa sits in last place of the Northeast Division.

Each member of the Senators' talented troika had a goal in Wednesday's 5-1 rout of the Atlanta Thrashers.
