Heatley, Spezza seek another impressive outing vs. Panthers
Nov 30, 2006 - 1:35 PM Florida (8-13-5) at Ottawa (12-12-1) 7:30 pm ESTOTTAWA (Ticker) - Dany Heatley had quite a game in his previous outing against the Florida Panthers. Jason Spezza made it worth the effort.
Heatley, Spezza and the Ottawa Senators square off against the struggling Panthers on Thursday.
Last Friday, Spezza scored the decisive goal and Heatley recorded his second hat trick of the season as the Senators posted a 6-4 victory over the Panthers in Florida.
Ottawa posted its fifth win in six tries after a 4-1 triumph over Carolina on Tuesday. Patrick Eaves and defenseman Christoph Schubert both scored a goal while goaltender Martin Gerber made 29 saves for the Senators, who killed all five of the Hurricanes' power-play opportunities.
Meanwhile, Florida is riding a four-game losing streak. The Panthers fell, 1-0, in a shootout against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, enduring back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2002.
Netminder Alex Auld finished with 39 saves for Florida.
