Oilers aim to bounce back on seven-game homestand
Nov 30, 2006 - 1:40 PM Colorado (11-11-2) at Edmonton (13-8-2) 9:00 pm ESTEDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) - The Edmonton Oilers attempt to bounce back on their seven-game homestand when they face the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.
The Oilers were 4-0 on their homestand and winners of five in a row prior to their 3-2 overtime setback to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
Marty Reasoner and Ryan Smyth both scored a goal while goaltender Dwayne Roloson made 23 saves for Edmonton, which was outshot, 21-11, in the final two periods as they squandered an early two-goal lead.
The Avalanche had their two-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game road trip.
Netminder Jose Theodore turned away 32 shots and rookie Paul Stastny and Wojtek Wolski both tallied for Colorado, which was outshot, 37-25.
Edmonton is ahead in the season series, 2-0, with both wins coming in Colorado.
