Oilers hope to end skid at home against Coyotes

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Rextall Place was supposed to give the Edmonton Oilers refuge after they began the season with a plethora of road games. That just has not been the case.

Trudging through a three-game losing streak, the Oilers look to turn things around at home on Monday against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Struggling with a 4-5-3 record at home this season, Edmonton played 18 of its first 26 games on the road and finished with a 10-8-0 record in that stretch. After that, it hosted four of its next five contests and won just once at Rextall Place.

The Oilers' lone victory in that stretch came in a 3-0 blanking of the Vancouver Canucks on December 13, and they have not won since.

Edmonton is coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. After setting an NHL record with 15 shootout wins in 2007-08, it has only won twice in the bonus format this season.

The Coyotes, who have won four of their last six, are looking to earn a point for the seventh straight game.

They are coming off a 2-0 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, two days after edging the Nashville Predators, 2-1.

Captain Shane Doan has 26 points in his last 27 games.
