Rangers look for revenge against Sabres

Dec 1, 2006 - 2:32 PM NY Rangers (13-9-3) at Buffalo (19-3-2) 8:00 pm EST

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Rangers aim for revenge when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

Buffalo, which leads the Eastern Conference with 40 points, edged New York, 3-2, on Sunday and can sweep the season series with a victory on Friday. The Sabres should be well-rested, since they have not played since the victory over the Rangers.

Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff gave the players two days off before resuming practice on Wednesday.

On Sunday, New York's Martin Straka tied the game, 2-2, late in the third period before Buffalo's Chris Drury tallied the game-winner at 1:36 of overtime.

The Rangers try to rebound from a 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday. Adam Hall scored twice for New York while Straka and Michael Nylander scored the other Rangers goals.

New York's Brendan Shanahan, who is second in the league with 17 goals, has been held without a point in his last three games.
