Slumping Blues, Blackhawks meet
Dec 1, 2006 - 2:44 PM St Louis (7-14-3) at Chicago (8-12-2) 8:30 pm ESTCHICAGO (Ticker) - Two of the weakest clubs in the Western Conference meet on Friday when the St. Louis Blues visit the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Blues have 17 points while the Blackhawks have just 18. Only the Columbus Blue Jackets (14) have fewer points in the conference.
St. Louis has dropped three straight games, the latest a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
Keith Tkachuk, Jay McClement and Bill Guerin scored for the Blues, who went 1-for-5 on the power play. St. Louis actually outshot the Predators, 34-15.
The Blackhawks also have been struggling lately, losing three straight games before registering a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.
Tony Salmelainen tied the game, 1-1, at 11:43 of the third period before Tuomo Ruutu netted the game-winner with an unassisted tally with just 1:48 left.
Nikolai Khabibulin made 20 saves for Chicago, which won its first game under new coach Denis Savard.
