Flyers continue long road trip vs. rested Kings
Jan 3, 2009 - 12:54 PM Philadelphia (21-10-7) at Los Angeles (15-16-6), 10:30 pm ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- After a rough start, the Philadelphia Flyers have turned around their season-long, six-game road swing.
The Flyers aim for their third straight win Saturday when they visit the Los Angeles Kings, who are coming off a four-day break.
After dropping its first two contests on the trip by a combined score of 8-1, Philadelphia has rebounded with a pair of one-goal triumphs on the West Coast.
Mike Richards scored the lone goal in the shootout after collecting three assists in regulation, lifting the Flyers to a 5-4 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
Philadelphia, which is tied with the New York Rangers atop the Atlantic Division standings, ends its road trip Tuesday against the Washington Capitals.
Kings rookie netminder Jonathan Quick is coming off another impressive performance, but the club lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets, 2-0, on Monday.
The 22-year-old is 2-3-0 with a 1.72 goals-against average and .937 save percentage. Los Angeles' offense, however, has provided little help as both of Quick's victories have come via shutout.
