Hiller, Ducks hope to continue success against Kings
Jan 6, 2009 - 1:33 PM Los Angeles (16-16-6) at Anaheim (20-15-5), 10:00 pm ESTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks will likely go with the hot hand when they host the rival Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday in the first game of a home-and-home series.
Both Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Jonas Hiller have blanked the Kings this season. In their most recent meeting, Hiller made 29 saves in a 2-0 triumph on November 16.
The 26-year-old Hiller is also coming off a 29-save shutout in Sunday's 2-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. It was the third blanking of the season for Hiller, who could get another start Tuesday.
In 18 games - 15 starts - this campaign, Hiller is 9-6-1 with a 2.12 goals-against average and .933 save percentage.
Los Angeles, which will host Anaheim on Thursday, has been shutout an NHL-worst six times this season.
For the first time this campaign, Jonathan Quick did not need to post shutout to lift the Kings to a win Sunday. He made 31 saves and did not allow a goal in the shootout during the 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.
