Bruins look for revenge against Hurricanes
Dec 2, 2006 - 3:58 PM Boston (12-9-2) at Carolina (14-10-3) 7:00 pm ESTRALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins have been playing great hockey lately in winning four out of their last five games. The lone exception in that stretch was a stomping from the Carolina Hurricanes, who the Bruins get a rematch with on Saturday.
The Stanley Cup champions smashed the Bruins, 5-1, in Boston on November 24. Eric Staal, Justin Williams, Erik Cole, Eric Belanger and Andrew Ladd scored for the Hurricanes, who outshot Boston, 40-26.
Bruins starting goaltender Tim Thomas was pulled after allowing three goals on 25 shots and was replaced by Philippe Sauve.
Since that defeat the Bruins have rebounded with three straight wins. Phil Kessel scored the winner in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
The Hurricanes have only played twice since the victory over Boston, and are coming off a 4-2 triumph over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
Cole scored twice while Belanger and Williams added single tallies for Carolina, which outshot the Canadiens, 48-27.
No one has shouted yet.
