Senators hope to keep rolling
Dec 2, 2006 - 4:12 PM Tampa Bay (13-11-2) at Ottawa (13-12-1)7:00 pm ESTOTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators are starting to resemble the club that finished atop the Eastern Conference last season.
Ottawa, which has won six of its last seven, try to keep things rolling when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
The Senators come of a convincing 6-0 blanking of the Florida Panthers on Thursday. Dany Heatley was the big gun for Ottawa, getting two goals and an assist while Andrej Meszaros, Chris Kelly and Antoine Vermette scored the other Ottawa goals.
Ray Emery recorded 31 saves to get the shutout.
The Lightning started their two-game northern trip with a 4-3 shootout loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier and Eric Perrin scored for Tampa Bay in regulation, but all three were denied by Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas in the shootout.
Tampa Bay goaltender Marc Denis stopped six Boston shooters in the shootout before allowing Phil Kessel's game-winner in the seventh round.
No one has shouted yet.
