Penguins hope to get back on track vs. Islanders

Dec 2, 2006 - 4:36 PM NY Islanders (12-9-3) at Pittsburgh (11-9-4) 7:30 pm EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins know that the most important games are against divisional opponents.

The Penguins will host the New York Islanders, a divisional foe, on Saturday.

Pittsburgh has lost three of its last four contests against divisional foes. It has faced the Islanders twice recently, losing 3-1 on the road on November 24 and winning 3-2 at home on Tuesday.

On Friday, defenseman Sergei Gonchar recorded two assists for the Penguins in a 5-2 loss to New Jersey. Pittsburgh has dropped four of its last five games.

Mike Dunham made 20 saves for New York, which had outscored its opponents, 11-4, in winning its previous three home games, but fell to Philadelphia, 3-2, on home ice on Thursday. The Islanders were behind 3-0 and rallied but fell short after tallying two goals late in the game.

The Penguins have won two of the three matchups against the Islanders this season.
