Struggling Senators hope to stop skid

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators are still looking for their first victory of 2009.

Ottawa will try and snap its five-game skid when it hosts the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.

After closing out 2008 with a win at Edmonton, Ottawa is 0-4-1 after Saturday's 2-0 setback to the New York Rangers.

Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves for the Rangers to spoil rookie Brian Elliott's season debut for the Senators. Elliott stopped 25 shots.

Carolina has dropped consecutive games following a three-game winning streak, including Saturday's 5-1 loss at Boston.

Justin Williams scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes, who pulled goaltender Cam Ward early in the second period after he allowed three goals on 12 shots.

The Hurricanes won the first meeting, 2-1, on November 7.
