Coyotes open road trip vs. Wild

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- Goals may be hard to come by when the Phoenix Coyotes begin a four-game road trip against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.

Both teams find themselves among the bottom five in the NHL in scoring and have done little to improve their standing over the last few weeks.

The Coyotes have been shutout in regulation in three of their last four games, but managed a 1-0 shootout win over Dallas on Saturday thanks to Ilya Bryzgalov's second blanking of the season.

Captain Shane Doan continues to lead Phoenix offensively with 18 goals and 22 assists. He has just one goal in Phoenix's last seven games.

Minnesota, which finds itself in a tie with the Edmonton Oilers (20-18-3) at the bottom of the Northwest Division, ranks second to last in the league with just 2.37 goals per game. The Wild have scored two goals or less in 14 of their last 17 games, including five straight.

Niklas Backstrom has helped keep Minnesota in contention in the Western Conference, owning the fourth-best goals against average (2.17) in the league.

After posting back-to-back shutout victories over Colorado and Boston, the Wild lost the final two legs of a four-game road trip to Philadelphia and Columbus.
