Red Wings continue road trip against Ducks

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings' first stop on their six-game road trip did not go as planned.

The Red Wings will hope to bounce back from one of their worst defensive performances of the season when they face the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday in a meeting of the last two Stanley Cup champions.

Detroit allowed a season-high 49 shots on goal during Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars. The reigning Selke Trophy winner, Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings, who had won their previous six contests.

Defense certainly wasn't a problem for Detroit the last time these teams met. Marian Hossa netted the game-winner early in the third period and the Red Wings surrendered just 16 shots en route to a 2-1 triumph over the Ducks on December 1.

Anaheim, which ousted Detroit in the Western Conference finals en route to the franchise's first title in 2007, is coming off a 4-3 triumph over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday.

The Ducks, who have lost seven of their last 11 games, will embark on a five-game road swing after this visit from the Red Wings.
