Canadiens go for seventh straight win over Bruins

Dec 4, 2006 - 2:40 PM Boston (12-10-2) at Montreal (15-7-3) 7:00 pm EST

MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The outcomes between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins have been very one-sided of late.

Winners of five of their last six home games, the Canadiens host the Bruins on Monday.

Montreal owns a six-game winning streak against Boston that includes a 3-2 victory on October 26. Defenseman Andrei Markov scored the go-ahead goal with just 1.2 seconds left on the clock.

Blue-liner Sheldon Souray netted the decisive goal as the Canadiens posted a 4-3 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Saku Koivu tallied twice, including the tying power-play goal with 4:36 left in the third period.

Goaltender Cristobal Huet made 36 saves and rookie Guillaume Latendresse had two assists for Montreal, which went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

The Bruins had their three-game winning streak ended following a 5-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Shean Donovan and defenseman Brad Stuart both tallied for Boston, which was outshot, 30-19.

Netminder Tim Thomas turned away 25 shots for the Bruins, who went 0-for-5 on the power play.
