Senators try to extend winning streak to four

UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators try to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

Ottawa downed the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-2, on Saturday for its third straight win. The Senators have outscored their opponents by 15-3 during the streak.

Ottawa took control of the game early, grabbing a 4-0 lead after one period. Patrick Eaves, defenseman Joe Corvo, Antoine Vermette and Jason Spezza scored in the first period before Vermette notched his second tally midway through the third period.

Ray Emery made 34 saves for the Senators, who went 1-for-5 on the power play.

The Islanders have won two straight game after a 7-4 thumping of the New York Rangers on Sunday in the first of eight meetings with their crosstown rivals.

Viktor Kozlov led the Islanders with his first career four-goal game, while Miroslav Satan, Chris Simon and Arron Asham scored the other New York goals.

The Islanders were outshot by the Rangers, 43-21, but goaltender Rick DiPietro stopped 39 shots in recording the victory.
