Islanders look for rare win vs. Kings

UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- Their season-best winning streak a thing of the past, the New York Islanders are hoping to avoid another lengthy slide.

The Islanders will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.

Owner of the worst record in the NHL, New York bounced back from a recent eight-game slide with a four-game winning streak, pounding in 13 goals. But that hot streak flamed out quickly, with the Islanders dropping their last two games.

Finding the net has been the biggest problem for New York all season. The Islanders rank 29th in the NHL with 128 goals scored and have particular trouble on the power play, converting just 17.8 percent of their opportunities.

They were blanked at Tampa Bay, 1-0, on Saturday, failing to convert on four power-play opportunities.

The Kings have won three straight and are 3-1-0 on their five-game road trip.

Patrick O'Sullivan collected a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday and Anze Kopitar took over the team lead with his 42nd point.
