Bruins visit Predators looking to snap three-game skid
Feb 14, 2009 - 11:34 AM Boston (39-10-7) at Nashville (26-26-3), 8:00 p.m. ESTNASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins did not start an extensive road trip on a good note and also failed to spark their struggling power play. Things will not get any easier against a surging Western Conference foe.
Losers of three in a row, the Bruins continue their five-game trek Saturday against rookie goaltender Pekka Rinne and the Nashville Predators.
All-Star Tim Thomas made 17 saves in Boston's 1-0 setback to the New Jersey Devils on Friday, when the Bruins dropped their third straight (0-2-1) for just the second time this season.
Boston, which fell to 20-6-3 on the road, has gone 2-for-32 on the power play over its last eight contests and will have a hard time breaking out against Rinne.
The starter for the Rookies in the YoungStars Game as part of the All-Star Weekend festivities in Montreal last month, Rinne has helped the Predators win five of their last seven.
Rinne turned aside 24 shots before stopping every attempt he faced in the bonus format as Nashville improved to 15-10-1 at home by stealing a 4-3 shootout victory over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
The Finnish netminder has surrendered three or fewer goals in eight of his last 10 appearances.
